ALDOT's Chief Engineer - Don Vaughn 


 

 

 


Don Vaughn was appointed as ALDOT’s Chief Engineer effective June 1, 2005. He earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Auburn University in 1971. He is a registered professional civil engineer in the State of Alabama (P.E. 11373). During his career, Vaughn has served as Interstate Bureau environmental engineer from 1973-1976, assistant location engineer from 1976-1979, location engineer from 1980-1983, assistant chief of the Design Bureau from 1983-1987 and as bureau chief of the Office Engineer Bureau from 1987-1989. He was appointed as administrative engineer to the transportation director in July 1989, and also has served as Assistant Transportation Director under two different governors. In addition to serving as Chief Engineer since June 2005, he has served as Deputy Transportation Director since February 2003.
