ALDOT's Assistant Chief Engineer for Pre-Construction - Rex F. Bush

Rex Bush is ALDOT’s Assistant Chief Engineer for Pre-Construction, with direct responsibility over the Bridge, Design and Right of Way bureaus. Rex graduated in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Auburn University, and has been employed by ALDOT for 31 years in a variety of positions. As Roadway Design Section Leader, he was responsible for design and preparation for highway plans statewide. He led the first CADD section group with the establishment of policies and procedures to prepare CADD highway plans and supervised design sections with the responsibility for highway plans statewide. In the Sixth Division based in Montgomery, Rex was the Materials Engineer and responsible for pavement design, material investigation and testing. He was also the Construction Engineer and responsible for all construction activities in the Montgomery area. Before being promoted to the Chief Engineer’s Office, Rex also served as the Division Engineer for the Fifth Division based in Tuscaloosa, where he supervised the construction, maintenance, and pre-construction activities for nine counties.
