ALDOT's Assistant Chief Engineer for Administration - Lamar S. Woodham, Jr.
Under the direction of the Chief Engineer, Lamar implements and manages ALDOT’s administrative policies and programs according to federal and state laws. He also oversees and manages two bureaus that support the engineering functions of the department. Lamar joined ALDOT in 1969, while still in high school, as a laborer in a survey party and worked summers while attending high school and Auburn University. Since earning a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at Auburn University, he has progressed through various bureaus including Materials and Tests, Maintenance, Design, Engineering Services, Office Engineer, Right of Way, and is serving the department in his present position as Assistant Chief Engineer for Administration. Lamar is a native of Montgomery. He is a retired Commander in the Navy’s Civil Engineering Corps and enjoys woodworking as a hobby. Lamar is married to the former Carol White, with whom he has three children, Jonathan Allen, Stephen Espy, and Brittany Jo.
